Colfax Marathon

Last year, 15 men fighting homelessness and addiction inspired others when they each successfully completed the Post News Colorado Colfax full or half-marathon.  This year, 45 men from the New Life Program, The Denver Rescue Mission’s long-term rehabilitation program, have taken on the challenge as well.  The team will consist of 30 men from The Crossing, The Denver Rescue Mission’s transitional living facility where nearly 500 men, women, and families work towards self-sufficiency, and 15 men from Harvest Farm, the Mission’s rural rehabilitation facility in Wellington, CO.  The men range in age from 23 to 51, and their stories are as diverse as their ages.  Most importantly, each man is fighting to change his life. Through this multi-phase rehabilitation program, the men discover that a major life change is not easy, but with small steps, loving support and guidance it is possible.  Through May 2008, the men will be trained ,with support from Olympian Jeff Galloway, and managed by the AIR Foundation, a non-profit started by 2007 Denver Rescue Mission Marathon team leaders, father and son, Nicholas Sterner Sr. and Nicholas Sterner Jr..
