Assistant Controller

The Assistant Controller is a FT, exempt position responsible for coaching, supervising and training 3 Accounting Specialists primarily focusing on accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts and Payroll.  The AC will help drive the month-end close process, provide team accountability and quality control, oversee Payroll, assist the Controller with leadership reports and financials, assist with improvement of internal controls and accounting processes, prepare journal entries into General Ledger, help prepare yearly budget, independent audits, ad-hoc analysis, accounting/tax research, and serve as needed on special financial reports.  BA degree in Accounting preferred with consideration given BA degree in Business or Finance, 5-7 years related experience, excellent supervisory skills, broad accounting experience, experience with online payroll system, with strong perference for CPA or CMA.  Work location is 3501 E. 46th Avenue, Denver, CO.

 

Clinic Coordinator

FT, non-exempt, temporary position responsible for coordinating the physical organization of the Lawrence Street clinic including scheduling cleints and services, general office and administrative duties, enforcement of policies and procedures, supervising and training resident and volunteer assistants, coordinating health assessments and TB tests for residents, assisting in recruitment of clinic health care providers, and various community health care conventions and meetings.  Qualifications include proficiency in Word Office software, good organizational and communication skills, ability to maintain high level of confidentiality, ability to work independently, strong relational skills with ability to recruit and maintain relationships with healthcare practitioners, knowledge of medical office procedures, and ability to supervise and train clinic workers.  Work location is 1130 Park Avenue, Denver, CO 80205.  This is a temporary position from 9/1/10 to 12/1/10 with a possibility of becoming permanent.

 

Seasonal Overnight Security

Part-time, temporary, overnight security positions responsible for supporting Facility Assistant on duty with security of property and residents at the Lawrence Street facility of Denver Rescue Mission. Responsible for enforcing facility rules and implementing discipline when required; training residents for work therapy assignments; conducting nightly inspections; ensuring cleanliness of facility and surroundings; ensuring all incidents, in and around DRM property are reported to proper authorities; ensuring incidents within the facility are dealt with in a timely and appropriate manner, focusing on de-escalation of conflict and safety of all individuals in the facility. High school diploma or equivalent (GED); at least one year of related experience; basic knowledge of MS Windows software; strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to resolve conflict professionally and respectfully; ability to maintain composure under pressure; ability to work with people of diverse cultural, educational and religious backgrounds.  These are temporary positions October 2010 through April 2011 at approximately 32 hours per week.  Work location will be 1130 Park Avenue West, Denver, CO 80205.

 

Youth/Mentor Internship

Primary Purpose: To assist in the overall running, facilitation, and development of the ongoing children’s and youth programs. To manage 10-20 youth mentoring cases in partnership with the Save Our Youth Mentoring program.

Requirements:

  • Able to make a one year commitment
  • Reliable Transportation

Youth Intern Responsibilities:

  • Help facilitate Reading and Writing Club
  • Assist in the facilitation and planning of weekly  Youth Clubs
  • Supervise and assist leading recreation activities in Bronco Youth Center
  • Assist in the planning and facilitation of monthly special events for youth
  • Oversee and plan family events (may include girls or boys night out)
  • Oversee art, photography, and creative computer technologies for the Star Youth Program
  • Work with The Crossing Staff and Youth’s families in implementing the Crossing program policies and procedures
  • Provide leadership as Club Leader of Whiz Kids program
  • Administration tasks and records
  • Assist with children’s programming and clubs

Mentor Responsibilities:

  • Match mentors and mentees
  • Supervise mentor and mentee cases
  • Track all interventions and interactions
  • Set goals with matches
  • Interview all potential mentors and mentees
  • Provide training and coaching for mentors
  • Track numbers through SOY and DRM databases
  • Attend training and supervisory meetings
  • Serve as a resource person for mentor and mentees
  • Work with Volunteer Coordinator  and Mentor Specialist in ensuring recruitment of mentors

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year experience working with children or youth
  • Ability to relate and connect with low-income families
  • Ability to motivate and encourage others
  • Proficiency in MS Office computer software.
  • Good interpersonal skills with ability to communicate clearly.
  • Possess a good driving record, and hold a current and valid driver’s license and insurance.
  • Positive referrals and recommendations
  • Willing to submit to a background check by the Colorado Bureau of Investigations
  • In agreement with the Doctrine and Constitution/by-Laws of  the Denver Rescue Mission

Hourly Breakdown:  40 Hours per week flexible between Mentor and Youth responsibilities

25 Hours Youth Program

15 Hours Mentor

Stipend: $475/Month plus Room and Board at the Crossing, Cell Phone, and Ministry Reimbursements
