Adopt a Family

We regret to inform you that we have met capacity for this year’s Adopt-A-Family program. If you still are still looking to participate in a comparable program for the holidays please feel free to look into the Denver Department of Human Services, Volunteers of America, The Salvation Army and The United Way, as these organizations typically offer holiday service programs. Adopt a Family 2012

Sponsors:

Denver Rescue Mission strives to meet the hurting and homeless at their physical and spiritual points of need by providing food, shelter and hope. This Christmas season we will host our 21^st annual Adopt-A-Family Program. Our community’s most trusted members will step forward to nominate families in need to receive Christmas gifts from generous sponsors.

We would like to match willing sponsors to families for the purpose of providing them with Christmas gifts. As a sponsor of a family in need, you will be asked to:

Provide gifts for each child in a nominated family. Gifts should include an item of new clothing and one or two toys (minimum of $40.00 to spend per child).
Provide a gift or gifts for each adult in a nominated family (Minimum of $25.00 to spend for a maximum of two adults per family).
If you wish, provide a gift certificate to a local grocer to be used for purchasing Christmas dinner. This is a recommended additional gift, though not required.
Neatly wrap all gifts.
Be available Saturday, December 15^th as this date has been designated as the gift drop off date. Please make alternative arrangements with your family if you wish to drop off gifts on a different date.
Drop off gifts at the preferred physical address listed on the nominated family’s wish list. Your family has agreed to be home, and is expecting you on 12/15/12 during the day, unless other arrangements have been made by you, the sponsor.

How to Sign Up

The sign up is a two-part process. For new users, that involves creating a sponsor profile, and then registering to sponsor a family. Below is a step-by-step guide to help you navigate the sign up process to become a sponsor. You may want to print this page for reference.

Go to https://www.drmvolunteers.org/aaf
Returning users can log in using email and password
New users click on [Register] to create a sponsor profile
Once profile is created, check your email for a confirmation link
Click on confirmation link and log in using your email and password
Your sponsor profile is complete
To sponsor a family, click on [register for current year] found on your profile page
Select number of families to adopt and size.
Click [register]
The sponsorship registration process is now complete and you will receive an email confirmation (please check junk mail if you do not receive this email).

Sponsors can register to adopt a family October 19th through November 18th, although registration may close earlier if we have met our projected number of sponsors. Families will be assigned to sponsors on a first-come, first-serve basis. Click here to read the Adopt a Family FAQs.

Nominations:

All families that would like to be nominated for the Adopt a Family Program MUST be nominated by a trusted community partner, which includes the following:

Member of the clergy (church staff)
Human service provider
Educator
Public safety professional (policemen, firefighter, etc.)

Any requests for nomination that do not come from a TCP will NOT be accepted.
