New Life Program: Harvest Farm

New Life Program: Harvest Farm

Men determined to break the cycles of addiction, poverty and homelessness can participate in the New Life Program at our Harvest Farm outreach. Located in Wellington, CO, this 209-acre farm gives up to 72 men an opportunity to complete our five phase program away from the temptations of the city.

Once enrolled, men gain the skills needed to become confident, self-sufficient members of society through academics, spiritual development, emotional counseling, and work therapy. New Life Program residents at Harvest Farm residents meet weekly with their designated chaplain to address their progress toward the program goal.

Through the Farm’s LifeSkills, Education and Career Center (LEC), men at this outreach can work toward academic goals such as obtaining their GED, or even pursue higher education and employment opportunities. In addition to academic, vocational and spiritual studies, relational and life skills courses such as anger management and budgeting are offered through the LEC to help participants develop healthy financial and relationship skills. Harvest Farm’s on-site Harvest Industries job-training program also teaches participants work skills through employment.

New Life Program participants also experience a unique form of work therapy at the Farm. Residents help produce a wide range of crops including corn, pumpkins and hay, as well as raise livestock such as beef and dairy cattle, goats, hogs, sheep, and chickens. The food is used to feed men in the program, with the excess sold to the community.

In the fall, men in the program also help operate the Harvest Farm Fall Festival, a country fair and giant corn maze with other seasonal attractions.
