Christmas Banquet 2010
The Denver Rescue Mission’s Christmas Banquet provides much more than nourishing meals. It is an opportunity for family and fellowship. Homeless and low-income men, women and children call the Denver Rescue Mission “home,” especially during the holidays. With the help of volunteers and employees of the Denver Rescue Mission, we will serve as the family to those most in need in our community and bring much needed joy this holiday season.
On Thursday, December 23rd, we offered a hot Christmas meal to almost 400 people at our 2010 Christmas Banquet. The menu included honey glazed ham, mashed potatoes & gravy, corn and salad, as well as milk, tea and a large assortment of desserts. The event took place from 11:00am-1:00pm at the Denver Rescue Mission’s Lawrence Street Facility.
More than 50 outside volunteers made it possible for the event to run efficiently and successfully. Volunteers included local celebrities and dignitaries, such as Adele Arakawa, Tamara Banks, Michael Hancock, Carla Madison, Judy Montero, Beth McCann, Marcia Johnson, City Council, Mike Coffman and Mark Koebrich.
Blankets and thermal socks were distributed to each guest as they exited the event.
